Expected Outcome: Objectives This pilot project seeks to integrate social economy principles into sustainable tourism and foster transnational cooperation among local communities along one or more selected long trails or specific portion of one or several long trails crossing EU Member States. The objective is to promote socio-economic and territorial development through a bottom-up approach, using existing long-distance tourist trails as test cases for sustainable tourism, notably in rural areas. The project targets transnational consortia to explore and test sustainable tourism models along these trails, based on social economy approaches, creating blueprints for possible replication across other EU regions. This initiative complements other existing EU efforts by leveraging local capacities to foster smart social economy models for sustainable rural development. The University of Bristol spends a significant amount of money every year on the servicing of laboratory equipment and is committed to obtaining best value for money across all types of equipment. Microbiological Safety Cabinets and other types of LEV are located across the University campus and at other satellite locations, including Langford and Southmead. Statutory testing (TExT) and regular servicing and maintenance of this equipment is vital to ensure that safety standards are maintained. To standardise the service provision and to ensure that all locations are receiving best value for money, we are looking to award a University wide contract for the provision of these services. 1. Purpose of the Role The Work Examiner is responsible for inspecting, reviewing and recording the condition, quality and compliance of works within their allocated area. The role supports safe delivery, identifies defects or non-conformances, and provides clear information to supervisors, engineers and project teams to support timely decision-making. 2. Key Responsibilities • Carry out planned examinations, inspections and site checks in line with the agreed work bank, programme and applicable standards. • Review completed or ongoing works to confirm they meet drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and client requirements. • Identify, record and communicate defects, safety concerns, incomplete works or areas requiring further investigation. • Produce accurate inspection records, reports, photographs and supporting evidence within agreed timescales. • Escalate urgent issues that may affect safety, quality, programme or asset integrity. • Liaise with site teams, supervisors, engineers, planners and subcontractors to coordinate access, clarify findings and support close-out of actions. • Maintain a safe system of work and comply with site rules, permits, risk assessments and relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.
