This process is a re-tender of the current Building Cleaning Services Framework let by CPC and expiring in May 2027. CPC intends to put in place an Open Framework for the appointment of building cleaning suppliers who specialise in cleaning services, across education and also the wider public sector. The purpose of this Framework is to give CPC members a compliant route to market. The collective spending power of Members utilising CPC frameworks is harnessed to drive down costs, which often allows for savings delivery which our membership otherwise would be unable to achieve individually. You are invited to tender for the contract to clear waste illegally deposited on the Bolton House Road Site, Bickershaw, Wigan, WN2 4AB. It includes waste that has been deposited to the rear of the site on Diggle Flash (A nature reserve that is part of Bickershaw Country Park). The quantity of waste Wigan Council expects to be removed is estimated to be in the region of 18,000 tonnes. This is estimated following a LiDAR survey which calculated the volume of waste as 23,086 metres cubed. Additional information: Wigan Council is conducting this procurement on an accelerated timetable due to an urgent requirement brought about by circumstances both unforeseeable and unattributable to Wigan Council. The urgent need is to clear an illegal waste site that presents an unacceptable risk to public health, environmental harm and outbreak of fire. Please note that the site has previously caught fire thus there remains a serious fire risk. The procurement timeline is reduced to c.15 days thus still allowing for sufficient competition.

The Woodland Creation Planning Grant (WCPG) offers funding of up to £30,500 for the production of a UKFS-compliant woodland creation design plan. Landowners, land managers and public bodies can apply. WCPG is open for applications year-round. The ‘Find a grant’ tool requires a ‘closing date’ to be specified, however 31 March 2030 reflects the period WCPG funding is currently confirmed until, rather than a known closure date. The scheme was re-launched in autumn 2020 to enable more people to apply and help proposals move more quickly through the Environmental Impact Assessment process and future planting and establishment grant funding.

Expected Outcome: In support to the implementation of the EU Adaptation Strategy, the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate change, and in particular having regard to the upcoming European Climate Adaptation Plan, project results should contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: Local climate adaptation actors, the financing sector, the public grant sector, and climate adaptation financing experience are brought to work together on making local adaptation actions financeable by combining public grant funding and private financing via bank loans and on overcoming the practical barriers on combining these and finding solutions, and specifically through demonstrating this with intermediated EIB adaptation lending. Local innovative adaptation actions (including nature-based solutions) have been implemented thanks to their financing by the combination of private financing via bank loans and public grant funding.
