FY26 Bus Safety, Accessibility, and Innovation Notice of Funding Opportunity

The intent of the PROTECT Competitive Grant Program is to fund projects to improve the resilience of the surface transportation system, including highways, public transportation, ports, and intercity passenger rail. Program goals include protecting: surface transportation assets by making them more resilient; communities through resilience improvements and strategies that allow for the continued operation or rapid recovery of surface transportation systems; coastal infrastructure; and natural infrastructure that protects and enhances surface transportation assets. This NOFO provides PROTECT Competitive Grant Program funding of up to $787 million from FYs 2024 through 2026, plus any remaining PROTECT Competitive Grant Program funding from prior years. The Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) is a Federal formula grant program that provides financial assistance to States, and U.S. Territories to reduce the number and severity of crashes, injuries, and fatalities and hazardous material incidents involving commercial motor vehicles.

The purpose of the ADCMS Competitive Grant Program is to provide incentives for eligible applicants to promote, implement, deploy, demonstrate, showcase, support, and document the application of new technology in construction projects at a program level. Eligible applicants under the ADCMS Competitive Grant Program are State Departments of Transportation (State DOT), including the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. State DOTs are permitted to submit joint applications with other State DOTs and non-State DOTs, including local governments, Tribes, and private industry. For projects involving partnerships, FHWA expects one State DOT to serve as the lead entity and to be the grant recipient. The ADCMS Competitive Grant Program requires a minimum cost share of 20 percent of total project costs. The FAA hereby announces its continuing interest in receiving applications for aviation research grants and cooperative agreements to pursue the long-term growth and short-term technical needs of civil aviation, under this funding opportunity. Eligibility of applicants for the award of an aviation research grant varies depending on the nature of the proposer's organization, as well as the character of the research being proposed.
