CA18112 - Provision of Pest Control

You are invited to tender for the contract to clear waste illegally deposited on the Bolton House Road Site, Bickershaw, Wigan, WN2 4AB. It includes waste that has been deposited to the rear of the site on Diggle Flash (A nature reserve that is part of Bickershaw Country Park). The quantity of waste Wigan Council expects to be removed is estimated to be in the region of 18,000 tonnes. This is estimated following a LiDAR survey which calculated the volume of waste as 23,086 metres cubed. Additional information: Wigan Council is conducting this procurement on an accelerated timetable due to an urgent requirement brought about by circumstances both unforeseeable and unattributable to Wigan Council. The urgent need is to clear an illegal waste site that presents an unacceptable risk to public health, environmental harm and outbreak of fire. Please note that the site has previously caught fire thus there remains a serious fire risk. The procurement timeline is reduced to c.15 days thus still allowing for sufficient competition.

This funding opportunity is provided to carry out the provisions described in Section 7721 of the Plant Protection Act . Through the PPA 7721 program, APHIS provides funds to support projects that protect specialty crops, nursery systems, forestry, other agricultural production systems, and natural resources from harmful and invasive plant pests and pathogens. This funding opportunity aims to support the development of in vivo high-resolution structural and functional imaging technologies for the living human inner ear. Proposed projects should focus on improving the resolution of current imaging techniques or developing new imaging techniques that can visualize inner ear structures in vivo with significantly greater detail and accuracy than currently possible. Both structural and functional aspects, including visualizing dynamic elements are important to development of new and improved techniques. Projects may also focus on developing new imaging probes or contrast agents that can enhance visualization of the inner ear structures. Ultimately, research supported in response to this RFA is to encourage technologies that allow, for example, structures such as hair cells, otoliths, membranes, ions, and vasculature to be viewed in detail in awake patients in a clinical setting using non-invasive techniques. To achieve this goal, a multi-disciplinary team approach that takes advantage of the expertise of each team member is highly encouraged. Studies in humans and intermediate studies in animals, but not non-mammalian species, may be proposed to develop or advance the needed technology. Any intermediate studies must articulate a clear path of the proposed methodology to application in awake humans or define the limitations and the usefulness in anesthetized humans.
