National Trust- NI - Castle Ward Woodland Restoration
Castle Ward Estate contains a rare and ecologically important area of semi-natural broadleaf woodland within the Strangford Lough AONB. The woodland supports priority habitats and protected species, including red squirrels, pine martens and badgers, making sensitive management and habitat protection essential throughout the restoration programme. The primary threat to the woodland is the spread of invasive non-native species, particularly cherry laurel and Rhododendron ponticum, which suppress native regeneration and reduce biodiversity. This project aims to restore woodland health through invasive species control, sycamore thinning and enrichment planting of native species, especially hazel, while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and best practice. The successful contractor will act as Forest Works Manager and deliver all restoration works between 1 October 2026 and 28 February 2027. This will include invasive species removal, sycamore removal, native planting and site clearance, with all cutting, felling and arisings completed by the end of February 2027. Follow-up invasive species treatments will be required during 2027 and 2028 to ensure long-term restoration success. Carbon Market Opportunity Assessment
→The UK Government's Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme is inviting quotations from qualified suppliers or consortia to deliver an economy-wide assessment of carbon market opportunities and institutional capacity strengthening support in the Philippines. The Philippines has committed to an ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), targeting a 75% reduction and avoidance of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Achieving this target will require significant international support, strengthened institutional capacity, and the mobilisation of climate finance to accelerate mitigation action across priority sectors. Carbon markets are increasingly recognised as a potential mechanism to unlock climate finance and support cost-effective emissions reductions. As the Philippines advances implementation of its updated NDC, Nationally Determined Contribution Implementation Plan (NDCIP), and Long-Term Strategy (LTS), there is a timely opportunity to assess how carbon markets, including potential participation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, can contribute to national climate objectives while maintaining environmental integrity and alignment with national priorities. The Climate Change Commission (CCC) of the Philippines is seeking a qualified supplier to support the next phase of this UK PACT partnership. Building on previous support provided through UK PACT, including the development of the Philippine Emissions Pathway Calculator (PEPC), this assignment will strengthen the evidence base and institutional capacity required to guide the development of carbon markets in the Philippines. The selected supplier will undertake an economy-wide assessment of carbon market opportunities, including indicative mitigation and revenue potential across priority sectors, sector prioritisation, and the development of a preliminary pipeline of carbon market opportunities. In parallel, the supplier will provide targeted technical assistance and capacity-building support to strengthen the CCC's ability to oversee, coordinate, and guide carbon market development in collaboration with relevant government agencies and stakeholders. Interested suppliers are invited to review the documentation provided in this notice and submit their applications to: philippines@ukpact.co.uk

Alcohol Treatment, Pharmacotherapy, and Recovery Research (R01 Clinical Trial Required)
→The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism solicits applications for an R01 Clinical Trial Required mechanism focusing on alcohol treatment and recovery research. This NOFO will focus broadly on topics relevant for treatment of and recovery from alcohol use disorder (AUD), including: medications development, precision medicine, behavioral therapies and mechanisms of behavioral change (MOBC), recovery, translational research, and innovative methods and technologies for AUD treatment and recovery.

→The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism solicits applications for an R01 Clinical Trial Optional mechanism focusing on alcohol health services. This NOFO will broadly focus on closing the treatment gap for individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD); within this focus, there are five major areas of emphasis: (1) increasing access to treatment for AUD, (2) making treatment for AUD more appealing, (3) examining cost structures and insurance systems, (4) conducting studies on dissemination and implementation of existing evidence-based approaches to treating AUD, and (5) reducing health disparities as a means of addressing the treatment gap in AUD for health disparity populations.
Grant$500KCloses 2026-09-07USHealthResearch Projects to Enhance Applicability of Mammalian Models for Translational Research (R01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
→Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites applications for projects to expand, improve, or transform the utility of mammalian cancer and tumor models for translational research. With this NOFO, the NCI intends to encourage submission of projects devoted to demonstrating that mammalian models or their derivatives used for translational research are robust representations of human biology, are appropriate to test questions of clinical importance, and provide reliable information for patients' benefit. These practical goals contrast with the goals of many mechanistic, NCI-supported R01 projects that employ mammals, or develop and use mammalian cancer models, transplantation tumor models, or models derived from mammalian or human tissues or cells for hypothesis-testing, non-clinical research. Among many other possible endeavors, applicants in response to this FOA could propose demonstrations of how to overcome translational deficiencies of mammalian oncology models, define new uses of mammalian models or their genetics for unexplored translational challenges, advance standard practices for use of translational models, test approaches to validate and credential models, or challenge current practices for how models are used translationally
