Alternatives to FY26 - Stopping Threats On Pedestrian Competitive Grant Program (Bollards)

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announces the opportunity to apply for competitive awards totaling up to $10 million in Public Transportation Innovation Program (49 U.S.C. 5312) funds for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Bus Safety, Accessibility, and Innovation Research Program under Assistance Listing Number 20.530. As required by Federal public transportation law, funds will be awarded competitively to up to two projects to develop and prototype innovative and widely deployable concepts that are intended to make existing and new buses safer for their operators and vulnerable road users, and safer and more accessible for their passengers. 

The Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) is a Federal formula grant program that provides financial assistance to States, and U.S. Territories to reduce the number and severity of crashes, injuries, and fatalities and hazardous material incidents involving commercial motor vehicles.

The United States Marine Highway Program (USMHP), codified at 46 U.S.C. 55601, was originally established by Section 1121 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 to reduce landside congestion through the designation of Marine Highway Routes. The USMHP statute authorizes the U.S. Department of Transportation (“Department” or “DOT”) to make grants to implement Projects or components of Projects that 1) provide a coordinated and capable alternative to landside transportation; mitigate or relieve landside congestion; promote Marine Highway Transportation; or use vessels documented under 46 U.S.C. chapter 121; and 2) develop, expand, or promote Marine Highway Transportation or shipper use of Marine Highway Transportation

The Denali Commission is inviting statements of interest for rural Alaska transportation projects in need of local match or gap funding assistance. Many Alaskan communities lack the tax base or resources necessary to meet cost share requirements. This opportunity seeks to provide funding to cover local match needs or address funding gaps, facilitating the completion of transportation projects and supporting infrastructure development in rural communities across the state. Overview The Commission announces the availability of match and gap assistance funds for construction-ready rural transportation improvement projects. This announcement commits up to $7,500,000 for the purpose of this program from funds appropriated under Public Law 117-328 and allows for non-federal match via Section 309(h) Non-Federal Share of the Denali Commission Act of 1998 (42 U.S.C. 3121; Public Law 105-277), stating, “funds made available to carry out this section may be used to meet the non-Federal share of the cost of projects under title 23, United States Code”. Eligible projects must benefit the public in Alaska. Eligible applicants include municipal, borough, and tribal governments; Indian Tribes as defined by Title 25 US Code § 5304; regional tribal non-profit organizations; and other non-profit organizations. Entities which do not have an active or pending award with the Denali Commission transportation program will be given priority consideration. The Commission will evaluate statements of interest forms shortly after the application window closes. A review committee of Commission staff and subject matter experts will conduct a conformance review and evaluate statements according to the priorities listed above, beginning to invite successful respondents by early September to submit proposals. Invitations for proposal will give interested parties approximately 30 days to respond with a full proposal. The Transportation Advisory Committee, Commission staff and subject matter experts will evaluate full proposals. The Commission anticipates making awards in spring 2027. The Commission reserves the right to partially fund projects, subject to the quality of funding assistance requests received and other relevant considerations. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announces the opportunity to apply for $11,959,671 million in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024, 2025, and 2026 competitive grant funding to support transit services for the FY 2026 Innovative Coordinated Access and Mobility (ICAM) pilot program. Under the ICAM pilot program, funds awarded will finance innovative capital projects for the transportation-disadvantaged, with the goal to improve the coordination of transportation services and non-emergency medical transportation services for older adults, people with disabilites, and people of low income. As required by Federal public transportation law and subject to appropriations, funds will be awarded competitively to eligible applicants. Eligible applicants are entities eligible to apply for the Section 5310 Program including: State departments of transportation, designated recipients, or local governmental entities that operate a public transportation service, or their eligible subrecipients including private non-profits.

The opportunity for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Center of Excellence for Alternative Jet Fuel and Environment (AJFE) was awarded in 2013 to the ASCENT cooperative aviation research organization. ASCENT is a coalition of 16 leading US research universities committed to improving the understanding of aviation noise and emissions and the modeling of aviation systems.
