The primary objective of the project is to re-establish the commercial operations of the fire damaged parts of the Barrow Centre whilst giving due consideration to its surroundings, heritage and constraints. The Barrow Centre comprises the historic service yard and associated buildings for the Mount Edgcumbe Estate, now utilised as a visitors centre for the modern park and gardens. The central U-shaped stable block consists of a two and three storey mixed-use building containing a cafe, shops, workers flats and 2 holiday lets. The fire damaged section of the property forming the focus of this project consists of the split level northern wing containing 2 holiday cottages, Yew Tree Cottage and Horseshoe Cottage, and 2 workers flats, numbers 3 and 6 which in total provided 8 no. bedrooms. The Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park is jointly owned by Cornwall Council (CC) and Plymouth City Council (PCC). PCC are the insurance policyholders for the Park and remain the beneficiaries for any sums paid out under the insurance claim. An agreement between PCC and CC is that CC will progress the refurbishment works

The planned introduction of longer train services to the Airport in response to future demand growth will mean that double stacking arrangements of trains as currently used will no longer be viable. Through the project's Delivery Steering Group, Northern and TransPennine Express have carried out analysis which has identified that additional platform capacity is needed at the airport in order to realise the full benefit of longer train services serving the airport. The scheme is part of a package of proposed measures in the Manchester area that are being designed/planned to boost capacity and resilience, emanating from the Cross Manchester Capacity and Reliability Improvement Study. Improving the operation of train services in the centre of Manchester and providing further capacity at Manchester Airport station, aligns with the strategic aims of Network Rail, TfGM, TfN and the wider industry. This project in in Tranche 1 of the Manchester and North West Transformation Programme (MNTP): A remodelling of the station at Manchester Airport, specifically a platform addition or extension of multiple platforms, or provision of a new turnback facility, will be essential to accommodate the planned implementation of longer rolling stock services. The redevelopment of these platforms will enable permissive working of two 6x24m (144m) trains, in two of the four platforms at the Airport Station. This will allow for the unaltered retention of all existing TOC services both originating and terminating at the Airport Station under 'double-stacking' conditions. The scope areas for this package are as follows: - Track renewals and modifications. - Plain line track installation. - S&C installation and modifications (where applicable). - Ballast excavation, placement and regulation. - Stressing, welding and rail adjustments. - Tamping and dynamic track stabilisation. - Possession planning and delivery support. - Associated rail plant and labour resources. - Testing, handback and assurance documentation.

High level summary of the project includes: Undertaken roof repair as there are leaks throughout. Installation of roof insulation and suspended ceiling. Upgrade of all glazing and doors (including fire doors). Strip out of existing M&E services/plant. Installation of VRV/VRF system and ASHP. Upgrade of all lighting and ensuring complete electrical installation is ATEX/DSEAR compliant. Note, a Stage 3 design and report will be provided and we would expect a stage 4 design/report before we progress with the build stage.

Concrete & Polymer Reinforced Crib Walls - Design, Supply & Install We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced suppliers to undertake the design, manufacture, supply and installation of concrete and/or polymer reinforced crib wall retaining structures as part of the Lower Thames Crossing Roads North programme. The package comprises approximately 3.5km of crib wall retaining structures across multiple locations. Suppliers will support the development of practical, buildable and cost-effective solutions that integrate with the wider scheme design. Package Scope The package includes: Design and design checking of crib wall systems. Support to Approval in Principle (AiP) and design development. The U.S. Wildland Fire Service Joint Fire Science Program (JFSP) is seeking proposals from current master and doctoral students enrolled at colleges or universities within the US in the field of wildland fire and related physical, biological, and social sciences to apply for a Fire Leaders And Managers, Emerging Scientists (FLAMES) award.  The purpose of a FLAMES award is to enhance student exposure to the management and policy relevance of their research, to provide opportunities for experiential learning and exposure to fire management practices, and to foster peer-learning, mentorship and career development. Successful applicants will be expected to meet the following program requirements during the project period: 1.     Complete a research project that supplements the student’s current thesis or dissertation research plan. 2.     Gain practical experience and exposure to wildland fire practitioners, through participation in prescribed fire, wildfire, or other activity related to fire management (management activities relevant to the student’s area of expertise). 3.     Attend regularly scheduled JFSP-organized virtual meetings designed to build a student cohort, share information, and introduce students to training and engagement opportunities. 4.     Participate in at least one in-person event to exchange science with practitioners (i.e., workshop, training, field tour) and develop at least one management-relevant product (e.g., webinar, factsheet) that describes the management relevance of their research.
