→WAGR Overview and Site Information The Windscale Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (WAGR), commissioned in 1962, was the prototype for the UK's second-generation Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (AGR) fleet. The facility (Building B50), recognised by its distinctive spherical containment shell, was supported by the fuel assembly building (B52) and turbine hall (B55). Following reactor core dismantling and removal in 2012, the WAGR Complex entered Care and Maintenance (C&M). The facility is now progressing towards its final phase of decommissioning and demolition. Existing records confirm the presence of Low-Level Waste (LLW) and Intermediate-Level Waste (ILW), resulting in ongoing radiological and contamination hazards. All buildings within the WAGR area are owned by the Remediation operating unit, remain under active surveillance and maintenance, and are classified as Beta Gamma contamination facilities. Project Scope The scope comprises enabling, strip-out, waste management and decommissioning support activities across the WAGR facility, alongside support for wider Windscale decommissioning programmes and emergent operational requirements. Key activities include (see attachment) - Strip-out Works: Internal and external removal of fixtures, fittings, equipment and non-structural elements to facilitate future decommissioning and demolition activities. - Radiological Waste Management: Safe handling, removal and management of LLW and ILW in accordance with site requirements. - Asset Reinstatement: Delivery of asset reinstatement works and provision of SQEP resources to support successful handover. - Pre-Construction Information (PCI): Support information gathering and site characterisation where existing PCI is insufficient. - Surveys: Plan and undertake surveys to assess radiological, hazardous and operational conditions in support of future decommissioning works. - Project Enabling Works: Design, fabricate, trial and implement enabling solutions, equipment and materials to support project delivery. - Asbestos Management: Planning, sampling, monitoring and licensed asbestos removal where required. - Procurement: Procurement of materials, equipment and associated quality documentation. - Waste Management: Sorting, segregation, consolidation and disposal of current and historical wastes, including completion of documentation for transfer to Sellafield Waste Coordinators. - Emergent Works: Rapid response support to operations and maintenance teams for safety-critical issues. - Temporary Works: Management, design and construction of temporary works, including scaffolding, enclosures and other supporting structures. - Decontamination: Decontamination activities to support area declassification and radiological rollback. - Plant Modifications: Production of Plant Modification Proposals (PMPs) and associated documentation. - Scaffolding Services: Provision of scaffolding design, supply and installation resources as required. Tender$6.7MCloses in 4 daysGBConstructionManchester International Airport Phase 2 - Overbridge Civils
→The planned introduction of longer train services to the Airport in response to future demand growth will mean that double stacking arrangements of trains as currently used will no longer be viable. Through the project's Delivery Steering Group, Northern and TransPennine Express have carried out analysis which has identified that additional platform capacity is needed at the airport in order to realise the full benefit of longer train services serving the airport. The scheme is part of a package of proposed measures in the Manchester area that are being designed/planned to boost capacity and resilience, emanating from the Cross Manchester Capacity and Reliability Improvement Study. Improving the operation of train services in the centre of Manchester and providing further capacity at Manchester Airport station, aligns with the strategic aims of Network Rail, TfGM, TfN and the wider industry. This project in in Tranche 1 of the Manchester and North West Transformation Programme (MNTP): A remodelling of the station at Manchester Airport, specifically a platform addition or extension of multiple platforms, or provision of a new turnback facility, will be essential to accommodate the planned implementation of longer rolling stock services. The redevelopment of these platforms will enable permissive working of two 6x24m (144m) trains, in two of the four platforms at the Airport Station. This will allow for the unaltered retention of all existing TOC services both originating and terminating at the Airport Station under 'double-stacking' conditions. The works comprise the construction and completion of the bridge structure and associated highway infrastructure, including: • Installation of client-supplied precast bridge components, including cills, beams and side walls, together with associated shear key reinforcement and grout connections. • Modification of existing bridge cill. • Supply and installation of bridge bearing plates, including associated screed works. • Construction of pile caps/infill. • Placement of in-situ concrete shear key infill. • Construction of the reinforced concrete bridge deck slab. • Construction of reinforced concrete parapet walls. • Placement of in-situ concrete footpaths and fill areas. • Construction of pilasters, including reinforced concrete and brickwork elements. • Supply and installation of parapet and pilaster copings. • Construction of associated fencing, signage and PCC retaining wall. • Installation of associated ducting works. • Completion of highway works excluding final road surfacing. • Application of bridge waterproofing systems, installation of expansion joints, and completion of associated sealing and mastic works. • Construction of associated drainage works. Exclusions: Final road/footpath surfacing works are excluded from this scope.

Tender$200KCloses in 6 daysGBConstructionSwanley Park Footpath Refurbishment
→Swanley Town Council is seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake the excavation, removal, reconstruction and improvement of two existing footpaths. The project aims to improve accessibility, durability and the overall quality of the footpath network through the installation of wider, fit-for-purpose pathways that meet the requirements of their intended use. The works will comprise the following: Footpath One Footpath One extends approximately 355.4 linear metres and will broadly follow the alignment of the existing footpath. The pathway will be widened to provide a finished width of approximately 2.5 metres, excluding edging. The construction must be suitable for occasional vehicular access, with the appropriate sub-base and construction specification provided to accommodate this requirement. Footpath Two Footpath Two currently measures approximately 29 linear metres and will be extended to approximately 62.3 linear metres. The completed pathway will provide a finished width of approximately 2 metres, excluding edging, improving the provision and usability of the route. Surfacing Options and Construction Requirements The Council is currently exploring a range of surfacing options for the proposed footpaths, including self-binding gravel, tarmac and block paving. Contractors may be required to consider the suitability, durability, maintenance requirements, accessibility and whole-life costs associated with these options to help inform the Council's final decision on the preferred surfacing materials. The appointed contractor will be expected to undertake the necessary excavation and removal of existing footpath materials, prepare the underlying formation, install an appropriate sub-base and construct the new footpaths in accordance with the agreed specification. The works will also include suitable edging, finishing details and any associated reinstatement required to leave the completed pathways in a safe, stable and serviceable condition. All works must be carried out to an appropriate professional standard, with due consideration given to site conditions, public safety, drainage, accessibility and the long-term performance of the finished surfaces. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring that the construction methods and materials used are suitable for the intended use of each footpath. The Council is seeking a cost-effective and durable solution that provides improved pedestrian routes, meets the operational requirements of the site and offers good long-term value for money.
