Expected Outcome: Proposals are expected to contribute to one or more of the following: Quantum-resistant cryptographic primitives, also other than lattice-based approaches if relevant, that enhance the security and privacy of digital wallets, both for natural persons and wallets, as well as the design and implementation of post-quantum solutions for entity authentication and authenticated key establishment over insecure networks; Formal verification tools, improved High-Assurance Cryptographic Software (HACS) approaches and their integration in software workflows, to provide strong security guarantees in post-quantum migration, and enable streamlined evidence-based evaluation of secure systems that use cryptography. This is a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the BJA FY 2026 Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program (BWCPIP) to Support Law Enforcement Agencies. This opportunity supports publicly funded law enforcement and correctional agencies for the purchase or lease of body-worn cameras (BWCs) and the development of comprehensive BWC programs. Since its inception, BWCPIP has responded to growing demand for reliable, real-time video evidence in criminal investigations and prosecutions. Law enforcement agencies across the country increasingly rely on BWC footage to enhance evidentiary documentation, improve prosecutorial outcomes, and document public encounters. BWCs also serve as a deterrent to assaults against officers and can help exonerate officers falsely accused of misconduct.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity is to invite proposals for funding to deliver technical assistance to small businesses. Only applications from the states of Indiana, Ohio, or Virginia that have experience in managing a state-wide, regional or nationwide cybersecurity training program will be considered for funding via this announcement. This opportunity supports state, local, and tribal governments, law enforcement agencies, correctional facilities, probation and parole departments, and sheriffs’ offices in developing, implementing, or expanding crisis response training programs that enhance public safety, officer safety, and operational effectiveness by improving law enforcement responses to individuals in crisis who have behavioral health conditions (including mental health and substance use disorders), intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs), physical disabilities, and/or traumatic brain injuries. This program will equip law enforcement and correctional officers with tactical skills and strategies, and technology to effectively address crisis situations and enhance public safety. Officers trained in crisis intervention techniques are better equipped to safely mitigate volatile situations involving individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, including those with I/DDs.

This is a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for BJA FY 2026 Second Chance Act (SCA) Improving Reentry Education and Employment Outcomes. This opportunity supports state, local, and tribal governments and community-based organizations to provide education and employment programs for adults and youth leaving prison and jail. The goal of the program is to improve academic and vocational/trade programs available to adults and youth in prisons and jails and expand workforce development and career pathways that result in improved job readiness, employment attainment, and retention, thereby improving employment prospects and reducing recidivism. Applicants may consider proposing projects that develop marketable skills, leverage technology, and build capacity to align with their local job market and engage in the digital economy.

This is a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the BJA FY 2026 Kevin and Avonte Program: Reducing Injury and Death of Missing Individuals with Dementia and Developmental Disabilities. This opportunity supports public safety efforts to reduce deaths and injuries of individuals with forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, or developmental disabilities, such as autism, who, due to their condition, wander from safe environments. This program provides funding to law enforcement, other public safety agencies, and health care agencies to implement locative technologies that track missing individuals. It also provides funding to such agencies and partnering nonprofit organizations to develop or operate programs to prevent wandering, increase safety for vulnerable individuals, and facilitate rescues.
