Rail – studies, works or mixed
→Objective: The objective of this call is to develop rail transport infrastructure projects on the TEN-T core [1] network Scope: Works and / or studies related to: Construction/upgrading of cross-border and missing links Interconnections between rail and other modes of transport, namely inland waterway and maritime transport (including port hinterland connections) and projects aimed at the integration of the high-speed rail and air networks to make the feeder network for long-haul flights more sustainable. Priority will be given to projects fostering the development of high-speed rail in line with the Commission communication on high-speed rail [2] Support will not be given to railway stations, except for railway infrastructure components. If the project includes such components, they shall be presented as a separate work package. Support will not be given to track side ERTMS deployment, electronic interlockings and/or Class A radio communication (5G/FRMCS/GSM-R) components. →Objective: The objective of this call is to modernise transport infrastructure on the TEN-T network with the purpose of facilitating traffic flows for rail and road transport at border control areas at the Union external border of the TEN-T network. Scope: Works and / or studies related to: Projects, targeting only the transport infrastructure, which will inter alia improve the rail and road connections to the border crossing points, as well as parking lines and spaces related to the border controls. Support will be given to rail projects facilitating traffic flows at the TEN-T Border Crossing Points (BCPs) including as regards interoperability. Support will also be given to the upgrade of parking spaces for trucks, of waiting areas and of road lane capacity from the parking spaces to the border control points and between them, provided that it facilitates traffic flows at the Union external border. Border check equipment and facilities cannot be supported, in principle, as a stand-alone project. →Objective: The objective of this call is to modernise maritime transport infrastructure on the TEN-T network and reducing the environmental impact of transport through efficient short sea shipping links and greening of inland shipping. Scope: Only works projects related to: Projects supporting the deployment of Onshore-power supply and charging infrastructure in TEN-T maritime and inland ports in accordance with Regulation 2023/1804 [1]. The fitting or retrofitting of the energy systems of inland waterway vessels and short sea shipping vessels (including ferries) [2], with electric, hybrid, H2, ammonia, methanol and biomethane technologies, substitute sources of energy [3] and the installation of wind assisted propulsion systems (WAPS). →Objective: The objective of this call is to modernise transport infrastructure and enhance the digitalisation of road transport on the TEN-T network. Scope: Works related to: Projects fostering the deployment of new technologies and innovation by supporting test-beds / infrastructure for autonomous vehicles [1]. The focus will be specifically on investments in infrastructure for commercial (pre-) deployment of autonomous vehicles, implementing sufficiently mature technology that do not include Research & Innovation activities. The projects to be financed shall contribute to the deployment of highly automated vehicles on the road for real operation, requiring investment in infrastructure to ensure the efficient operation of autonomous vehicles, in two areas: Establishing control centers (IT equipment for remote supervision of highly automated vehicles, offering support in challenging or unexpected situations). →Objective: The objective of this call is to develop dual-use transport infrastructure on the TEN-T and the military mobility networks. Scope: In accordance with Article 9(2), point (c), and Article 12 of the CEF Regulation, support will be provided to dual-use projects, works and/or studies, addressing both civilian and defence needs. As provided in Article 12(1) of the CEF Regulation, dual-use projects must be located on the TEN-T and on the EU military mobility network established by the Council in November 2018, last updated in March 2025 [1]. Priority will be given to projects located on the four EU military mobility priority corridors and projects located in two or more Member States [2]. As provided in Article 12(1), point (c) of the CEF Regulation, such projects are to take into account the infrastructure requirements applicable to certain categories of dual-use infrastructure actions, as set out in Implementing Regulation 2021/1328 [3]. In case a proposal combines studies and works components, these must address different sections / activities.
